In The Dark V0.8 Update Notes


Sorry for being a bit late. In the last update I told you that I would have this update out before the end of next week. I didn't end up doing as much work on the game as I would have liked. Either way, V0.8 is now here and playable for all of you. The major change in this update is the completion of the story. In The Dark can now be fully played through to the end! If you manage to make it all the way there, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. 

V0.8 Change Log:

  • Created and added improved version of barrier device
  • Added complete story ending (includes good and bad endings)
  • Upgraded barrier device can now be found in level 20
  • Added new death screen tips for the final level
  • Fixed an issue where stamina regeneration speed changed based on frame rate
  • Made adjustments to the volume of ambient sound so that it is more noticeable
  • Added a sound for when the player touches a laser
  • Introduced a slight pitch variation each time the player makes a foot step sound
  • Changed the passive sound that plays when using a lore terminal
  • Fixed an issue where the escape menu could be opened at points of a level when it was not supposed to.
  • Changed tutorial text for every level with a tutorial
  • Added particle effects to all levels (detail)
  • Doors will now make sound when movement begins rather than when it stops

Not a massive list, but some of these changes were pivotal in completing the game. For the next update, V1.0 I will be looking to weed out any performance issues, make more visual improvements, optimize things like stamina, health, light strength, and player speed, and work on finding any bugs that have been left lying around. Hopefully I can get the final version out to everyone within the next week or two.
